Background on the Hinderlies.

Pastor Johan and Sonja Hinderlie have been grasped by the cross of Jesus Christ.  Their lives are no longer their own but belong to Jesus only.  As St. Paul describes it, “it is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me.” (Galatians 2:20).

Their Martin and Katy drama portrays how this freedom from the oppressor’s rod came to the Luthers through the assurance of forgiveness that is given by Christ alone, 

They present these amazing people in full costume with the flavor of the Reformation time in Germany. (see a video example below “Jesus Sets Us Free”).  Their stories reveal the theological focus of Luther’s teaching: word alone, grace alone, faith alone, Christ alone and to the Glory of God alone. Katy also tells of her escape from the Nimbschen convent, life with Martin and coping with suffering and death with him and with her children.

Invite them for worship, confirmation classes, adult forums, church celebrations and retreats. (Cost varies depending on number of presentations, time of year and location.) The Hinderlies live in the Minneapolis area.

Romans 7 declares that when we are in Christ we are dead to the law which once controlled our lives. Here is the text which declares this (the NET BIBLE translation).

Romans 7 The Believer’s Relationship to the Law

7:1 Or do you not know, brothers and sisters (for I am speaking to those who know the law), that the law is lord over a person as long as he lives? 7:2 For a married woman is bound by law to her husband as long as he lives, but if her husband dies, she is released from the law of the marriage. 7:3 So then, if she is joined to another man while her husband is alive, she will be called an adulteress. But if her husband dies, she is free from that law, and if she is joined to another man, she is not an adulteress. 7:4 So, my brothers and sisters, you also died to the law through the body of Christ, so that you could be joined to another, to the one who was raised from the dead, to bear fruit to God.

The video tells the story of a bank robber who is running from the law (the posse). This funny story is shared by believers who think that they too are on the run from the law. Now it is time for you to know that your head has hit the “rock” who is Jesus and as a result you are dead. You are dead to the law through the body of Jesus Christ who hits us on the head. And you cannot raise yourself up. Thanks be to God.

But God raises you up and marries you to another, namely Jesus, and by the power of Christ’s body you have new life. And in this new life you will be fruitful. But the fruit you bear will be life giving and for God. God will prune your branches and make you even more fruitful.

Let God do to you and through you what only God can do. After all you are dead and dead people can’t do squat.
